so last night we went over to my bro and sis in laws to watch the game! joie dished up some yummy roast beef sandwiches and some other dips. i was so glad we won! so now the week of feb 6th will be even better with our 7th superbowl win!

So the on going battle of what to feed nora is almost coming to a close. The ONLY baby foods this child will eat are sweet potatoes and fruit medley! forget any thing else, and after 25 bucks wasted on baby food i said forget it too! she eats people food but she is semi picky about it as well. but tonight i heated a bowl of vegetable soup and nora chowed down! peas, green beans, carrots, potatoes and corn! i was so proud! 

today i had me time and had to go get my nails done so cupcake played with adam. but i did get this sweet picture while i was away!

and daddy agrees, she looks like me!

tomorrow i am hoping to cross more things off my list for this week. and its AWAKEN night which means hanging out with the coolest teenagers in the area!

in my elementary school i had the best counselor, she served pickles. needless to say thats probably why i became dramatic so i could go to her office and eat pickles!

i love having my nails done, i just feel like my outfits are all put together. BUT i HATE sitting in that salon for an hour while tammy aka tham nu nguyen chats it up in a language i cant understand.

i appreciate the sacrifices of my parents now more than ever. as a kid i didnt understand why they made the decisions they did but i know they always had my best interest in mind and today i am grateful for that.

i once got punched in the back of my neck on the way to the bus one day after school!

i consider myself tech savvy BUT i have managed to destroy 5 ipods and 2 ipods. needless to say apple products and i do not get along.

i hate drama but i always get sucked into reality tv. i cant help it, im a sucker for the real housewives!

i am a fast food junkie.

my husband and i are in full time ministry and i couldnt imagine doing anything else. i consider it a privilege to  serve the church and gods people.

i hate cats. i had a roommate in college who had 2 and they grossed me out. so when i see my mother in laws cat i secretly kick it or at it just so it stays away from me.

Fact 13.

for the first time in my life i feel like i have real, true friends. they truly are far and few between.

i cry at every goodbye. who am i kidding, i cry easily!

sometimes i feel like rebecca bloomwood (confessions of a shopaholic) is me. i get sucked in to bargains and pretty dresses and shoes!

just a quick nora update! SHE IS STARTING TO WALK!

she pushes things and walks behind them and tonight she stood up twice all by herself!

long break means LONG POST!

prepare yourself, grab a drink and a snack this post will cover the past 4 eventful days! so it may be lengthy! but you will enjoy it! 

We are still in the middle of our winter weather but today the sun was shining and the snow was melting and it was gorgeous! we had about 4-5 inches of snow last week which meant i was trapped in the house because i didnt want to be cold but also because my tires weren't good! so my loving husband bought me 4 spanking new tires and i have conquered driving in the snow! WOOHOO! i even drove our driveway which is terrifying covered in snow. i did however play a mean joke on my sister about driving in the snow. i was having a phone conversation telling her what to do with her saturday night and i said "Jess, i have to go so i can concentrate on driving up the driveway. if you dont hear form me in 5 minutes call adam and tell him to send out the huskies and dog sled to come get me!" so i made it safely up the driveway and when i got nora cupcake all warm and settled in I called my sister and didnt say a word, just let it be dead silent! she of course is panicking, Julie, Julie!!! Julie!!! HELLOO??! i literally had my mouth muzzled so she couldnt hear me giggling. she hung up and called right back at which point i answer the phone cackling! i was hysterical! she wasnt laughing at first but then she did!

ok so last thursday we went to our friends John & Cara's home for dinner. They have the most amazing home. they have redone it all themselves and it has such charm! Cara is quite the chef, she whipped up homemade minestrone soup which was DELICIOUS, homemade eggplant parm, a bright and colorful salad and bread! such a good dinner. if you are ever in her neighborhood just stop in for dinner :)

so they have a son named michael and a daughter named anna that i adore! she seriously is the cutest little girl EVER! she loves target so that night i put Nora in an outfit from target just for anna. when we got there cara and anna quickly dissappeared. then anna came down with her matching outfit on from target! seriously how cute is that?! then her and nora played the night away! how sweet.

friday nora and i had lunch with our new friends jessica and eva. They are a sweet new family who has just started coming to our church. nora and eva were so cute to watch together. 

Saturday we had a surprise party for a young girl in our student ministry. Hannah turned 16! and it was so awesome to surprise her. we got her a ton of art supplies, pastels, watercolors, pencils, canvases, sketch pads, aprons, brushes and she cried opening it! i love knowing the feeling that you got someone a gift that they LOVE!

now yall all better know what else happened saturday! STEEEEELLLLEEERRRRRR victory!

i honestly didnt know if we could recover from that rocky 1st half but we did and what a great game it was. we ( me & the steelers, duh! ) totally deserved to win! and now it will give me much more joy when we dominate the jets and cocky rex ryan! i cant STAND HIM! i think we can beat the jets. and then i think green bay will beat the bears and it will be green bay and pittsburgh!

nora even helped with laundry saturday night

we had a great church service sunday and nora even went to sleep in the nursery! i was shocked! considering 2 weeks earlier she was pulled out for being a screamer and crier! 

Today i was in full on party planning mode for nora cupcakes first birthday extravaganza! she already has a custom birthday outfit! **ill post about noras favorite designer sheah bodle aka bri's trees later!

were doing a cupcake themed party since adam and i call her our little cupcake! i am making handmade invitations! and i am SO EXCITED! when i think about planning her parties, and making her invitations, and making her lunches, and being her homeroom mom at school, i get that i was born to be a mom feeling and i love it! 

someone at church sunday was like oh i cant believe how big she is getting, she will be in kindergarten before you know it and you will be at home crying. but i dont think i will be, i mean of course i want her to stay young so i can protect her but i cant wait to see how awesome she is. she is going to do incredible things and i will be so proud to be her mom!

alright i got you caught up so im off to watch a movie, prince of persia with the hubs!

snow, snow go away

Today it started, the dreaded snow storm. Now to most people its probably not that bad. BUT we live on top of a hill, the very top (great views in spring and summer) our driveway  has some scary curves and on this one spot that ices frequently you have to gas it while turning but not too much gas because you can fly yourself right off that driveway. all wheel or 4wheel drive is a must round these parts. needless to say you can expect posts from me the next few days as i will be experiencing that trapped in feeling and this is my only source to the outside world :) 

So when nora made the switch to formula, the poor little cupcake couldnt stomach ANY of it. she would throw it all right back up. a friend of mine had the same issues, tried soy formula and it worked wonders! well it worked, she loves soy. but with that came the concern from her dr that she may be lactose intolerant! she gets tested for that at her 12 month checkup! now, my girl nora loves her some ice cream and it normally doesnt hurt her belly. so for lunch today i made her scrambled eggs, she CHOWED down. loved every bite. then in the afternoon she had some of my new addiction: naked strawberry banana smoothie, YUM! 

bad combo for the cupcake though, we had some runny diapers this afternoon! so im hoping it was just a bad combo and not more signs of her lactose intolerant body!

but still had time to stop and cheese for me

and this is when she finally yanked hair off its tail. 

after the hair grab i swiftly yanked her out of harms way! you never know what 

disgruntled animals will do!

so now hubs and i are about to watch some nextflix, hang out, laugh and go to bed.

im gonna throw back some tylenol for my knee. im not being dramatic, i hit it so hard off the coffee table, it numbed my entire leg, then took my breath away. so heck yes it still hurts. if there is a gnarly bruise i will show you a pic of it tomorrow.

sorry i neglected you blog but sunday was a marathon day! Church, aarons birthday lunch, football playoffs, and sunday night service. we dont normally have sunday night service but it was a great service! Nora wasnt even really cranky when i got her from the nursery! sometimes as tired as i am on sundays i can only imagine how tired nora must be. her nap and meal schedule is thrown ALL day. i will always appreciate my children giving so much of their lives to the church since adam and i want our ministry to be a family ministry. However, make no mistake my family WILL always take priority over our ministry. its my biggest privelege to be a momma!

today Nora slept till 9:30 am and then Adam took cupcake and i finally got up around 1130! i have the best husband ever. 

then nora went on an adventure!

this is grammys cat that doesnt have a name. nora chases it ( no one knows if its a boy or girl) till it goes into hiding.

today she snuck up on it. she did so well not pulling its hair until it got up to move.

so i took her to her room to play with her whale! ALL SMILES!

Sometimes i get nervous like the cat is going to pounce Nora, i will run the cat over before that happens though! Were expecting a snowstorm over the next 2 days. JOY!!! have i mentioned i am over the winter yet. i dont mind the cold, but since i am not the best driver under normal circumstances, i dont even venture in the snow. so when i cant leave my house when i want i get that trapped feeling pretty frequently! AAAH, thank god for netflix and that adam gets to work from home.

In march adam and i will celebrate 5 years of being married! it has gone by SOOOO fast. we talked about what we want to do to celebrate. cruise, florida, san antonio, new york? do we take nora or leave her? who knows what we will do! i just cant wait to celebrate many more years with him. 

so my lovely, 4 minute older sister has me hooked on a new website!

The first time i met bridgette she was hobbling around on crutches. she had just had her acl repaired. i felt bad for her at first then she probably made a smart comment and i changed my mind :)

so one day bridgettes mom asked me if we would watch her kids while her and her husband larry went out of town. i said yes, but had no idea what i was going to do. bridgey was at an awkward stage where she NEVER, i mean never, talked. she would text on her phone like maniac but NEVER talked out loud. BUT she quickly warmed up to me, i mean my humor, awesome bathing suits that she cant resist and delicious cooking had her hooked! she quickly became like a little sister to adam and i. we helped her study for tests, take lunch to her at school, pick her up from school, go to her basketball tournaments, soccer games, watch her grow closer to god on wednesday nights and sunday mornings, until i kicked her out of identity :) had many slumber parties at their house, sunday fundays, whataburger runs, helping her get over mean boys, let her come on fine arts trips with us, go to the lake and get sunburned, eat jars of pickles in one night, watch whale wars & 16 and pregnant, listen to her BEG to drive my car, BEG her to clean up camille or buddy poop, take her to chic fil a,listen to how hot she is, ask her to not swim in her shorts, ask her to not where her dyke shorts to basketball, have her tell me at LEAST once a month that anne frank was a lesbo, she hates school, hate her teachers, shes just little though, shes only 14, i would take her to the plakes house where she sat in the car, disney world, we watched everyone ride rides together at disney because i was pregnant and she was scared to ride, she was nice to girls when other girls werent, she sang like an angel with corky, she likes to say perverted things, and pinch the back of your arm. she hates my alfredo but LOVES when i cook chicken and broccoli.

she is the little sister i never had and she knows it. i miss her everyday but know we will always be connected. god has awesome things for this girl, some may not see it but I DO! so watch out world, tykey is coming for you and i am just glad i get to be a part of her life!

it is freezing outside. just for the record my iphone app says it feels like 4 degrees outside! seriously i am over the winter! spring i welcome you!

Today we are doing nothing! until about 30 minutes ago i was still in my jammies. Nora is still in hers :) after her dinner she will get a bath and get a fresh pair of jammies on then hit the sheets. since sunday is like a work day for us its nice to do nothing on saturdays. plus it gives me more time to blog!

Last night was Aarons birthday party! it was great to have our family and friends here. i love reconnecting with friends. Adams bestie in high school named matt has an older brother named john who is aarons bestie! i think that is so cool! so they were both in attendance last night! i LOVE johns wife, cara and their little girl anna is a doll! 

Nora helped grammy make 2 cakes for the party, the first german chocolate, the second banana creme!

since i have caught up on the news ( praying for rep. gifford & her family & the other victims of that tragedy) caught up on say yes to the dress and my other indulgence shows i think i may go put on the proposal or my personal favorite movie confessions of a shopaholic! 

oh but real quick i told this little boy i would write about him since i wrote about his awesome little sister and wonderful girlfriend! so here is a story about Alan David Holden King or Mortimer Isaiah whichever you prefer.

so as you can see Alan loves Nora, not as much as bridgey, but he loves her. so one night while we were teen sitting them in Texas, he put Nora in her stroller and took her for the ride of her life around their pool! he came YELLING enthusiastically, i just took this girl for the ride of her life!!! meanwhile Nora is grinning ear to ear but i couldn't figure out what happened yet! Nora had peed herself because of excitement and laughing! her pants were soaked, the stroller was soaked but at least she had a good time. our sunday funday crew is the best :) miss them lots!

and while im telling stories ill tell you about the first time i met ADH (Alan) 's precious little girlfriend Lauren.

So the first time i saw Lauren was at pep rally at her school! she was in 7th grade with braces, a long blond ponytail with a big white bow in her head! so the cheerleaders come running out to do their routine and someone points to Lauren and all of a sudden LAUREN BITES IT!

now if you know me at all i die laughing when anyone gets hurt. that's how Adam knows when I'm really hurt, i laugh!

so poor little Lauren gets up with her red knees and red face and starts to cheer like nothing happened! i am losing it thinking about that still! lufff you Lauren!

ok Nora is up from her nap! happy saturday yall!

MATCHING SCARVES!

so this was my total momma move, for the first time nora and i wore our matching scarves. and she loved it. I thought she might have trouble wearing it and crawling but since she is super baby she rocked it. i know she will love these pictures as much as i do when she is 16 and not say "MOM WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!'

Lauren Cain gave these to us at our shower in Texas. Noras came with a hat that she wore home from the hospital ( pic below ) but the hat is a little too small now. 

We had a party for Aarons birthday tonight. So great to see some old friends and play some old games. I won in a "Guess Who" tournament! HOLLA! and adam won at apples to apples.

so now my hubby and i are spending time together watching netflix and enjoying each other :)

Shout out to all our Texas friends! uncle Seth brought Nora a bucee's shirt! woohoo! if you are ever in Texas you MUST find this gas station and stop. they have the nicest restrooms, best snacks, and obviously the coolest t shirts!

Today was a milestone day. NORA GOT HER OWN ROOM! its been a long time coming. we have been stretched for space (since we still live with my in-laws) but pappy gave up his office. so we moved everything this afternoon and my back hurts! its exciting though because Adam and i have our own room again and while i don't want Nora to grow up i cant stop it! Ill post pics of her new room later. 

Every Thursday we go to trinity middle school and help with the bible club. it is so awesome! 

**Just a side note, when Adam was in middle school there he with the help of the school nurse Mrs. Junko, started the bible club! so awesome that is still strong and kicking!

I forgot what it was like to be in a room of 100 middle schoolers but it was so refreshing. The girls LOVE Nora and i think she liked them too. 

Tomorrow we are having a birthday party for my brother Aaron. BUT we are also supposed to get a snowstorm. so i need to go check and make sure i don't need groceries or any last minute items!

LUFFF YOUUUU TWO!

well our friend seth has been in town since last wednesday. last night after youth (awesome night by the way!) we went to eat'n'park for a late night snack. our waiter was bill and he was hilarious! he is a freshman at a local college and after mindy tried to persuade him to change his major he decided to show us kunfgu/jujitsu/self defense moves. it got reallllly interesting!

 bill was showing seth some move and seth got take out when he hit his pressure point!

 so adam stepped in to test out bill's pressure points.

 nora and i just hung out!

so needless to say there were a bunch of laughs. today was another cold winter day. we were supposed to get snow flurries but we didnt. Nora is starting to walk. She pushes her little horsey around and takes steps behind it. of course im a proud momma, but i dont want her to grow up :( i also started to plan her 1st birthday party! VERY excited to celebrate my little cupcake. 

i started to list out some of the plans/dreams i have for 2011! they are challenging yet reachable. in 5 days i will give up soda. for those of you that know me, you know i have about 5 a day, sometimes more. but i know its not healthy, and being healthy (not necessarily losing weight) is on my list for 2011. plus i dont want nora chugging soda so i better set a good example.

this morning i read this verse and i LOVED it;

psalm 65:8 The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.

Praying that i find joy in everything of every season of life this year!

now i am gonna go play shawn white snowboard with adam and seth and aaron! have a good night!
